Personal Summary

Dr. Long was born and reared in Salisbury, NC and attended the North Rowan school system.  He was active in the Band and in his church, Trading Ford Baptist.  While in the Youth Department at Trading Ford he began the Youth Choir and started developing an activity program for that group.  Dr. Long was also the Asst. Adult Choir Director.

After graduating valedictorian from North Rowan High School in 1978, Dr. Long attended UNC-CH where he received a BA in chemistry.  He took private voice lessons, sang in the Men's Glee Club, and played trumpet in the Brass Ensemble along with courses in music theory and the physics of music.

Dr. Long entered the UNC School of Medicine in 1982 and graduated in 1986 at which time he began an internship and residency in internal medicine.  He also worked in a prison and two different emergency rooms.

In July of 1989 Dr. Long came to Lexington and opened his practice.  He was busy from the beginning.  Dr. Long began attending Reeds Baptist Church and held many positions until he left the church in January of 2000.  The positions included Board of Trustees, Youth Director, Youth Choir Director, Adult Choir Director, Youth Sunday School Director, Youth Discipleship Training Director, Youth Sunday School teacher, Business Equipment committee, Church Council, Nominating and Finance committees, and bus driver. 

He is now a member of  Coggins Memorial Baptist Church and sings in the Adult Choir as well as being their webmaster.

Dr. Long is divorced and has an 18 year old daughter, Tiffany. Tiffany will be attending UNCC with the goal of becoming a nurse anesthetist.
